Plain-English summary. GoGuide is a travel search-and-comparison site. We collect only the information needed to help you search for travel and, if you choose to book, to pass your booking details to the airline, hotel, or tour operator. We don't sell your personal data. We use analytics to improve the Service. You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.

1. Who we are (data controller)

3. How we use your data

To operate the Service — return search results, render maps, display weather, populate destination guides.
To facilitate bookings — pass your booking details to the applicable Provider so it can issue your reservation.
To communicate with you — send booking-related notifications, respond to support inquiries, and (if you opt in) send optional service updates.
To improve the Service — aggregated analytics on usage patterns, popular destinations, and error rates.
To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
To comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:

Performance of a contract — to provide the Service and facilitate any booking you request.
Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Service; to communicate with you about the Service; to prevent fraud.
Consent — for optional cookies and non-essential analytics; you can withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation — where we are required by law to retain or disclose data (for example, tax records).

5. Who we share your data with

We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

GoGuide uses the following categories of client-side technologies:

Strictly necessary — localStorage for your currency preference, dark/light theme, wishlist, and trip drawer. Nothing is transmitted to our servers.
Affiliate tracking scripts loaded in the page <head>:
- Travelpayouts (emrldtp.com/NTQzNDk2.js) — attributes outbound clicks to affiliate destinations (Hotellook, Aviasales, Rentalcars) so we earn commission on referred bookings.
- GetYourGuide Partner Analytics (widget.getyourguide.com/dist/pa.umd.production.min.js) — attributes outbound clicks to GetYourGuide.
Server-side data-source calls proxied through goguide.com/api/ — Mapbox, WeatherAPI, Foursquare, Unsplash, Pexels, Duffel, LiteAPI. Your IP is exposed to those providers only in aggregate at the proxy layer; the individual providers do not receive user identifiers from us.

You can disable or block these scripts using standard browser controls or extensions; doing so may prevent affiliate attribution but will not otherwise degrade the Service.

7. Data retention

Booking data is retained for as long as necessary to complete the booking, meet legal obligations (typically 7 years for tax and financial records), and resolve any disputes.
Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting.
Support correspondence is retained for up to 3 years.
Preferences stored in your browser's localStorage remain until you clear them.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

Under the EU GDPR and UK GDPR

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion.
Restriction — limit how we process your data.
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)

Know — request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we've collected about you.
Delete — request deletion.
Correct — request correction of inaccurate data.
Opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" — we do not sell or share personal data as those terms are defined by the CCPA. No opt-out is required to prevent this practice.
Non-discrimination — we won't deny you service for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@goguide.com. We will respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA) of receiving a verified request.

9. International data transfers

GoGuide operates from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and in any country where our providers are located. Where transfers involve personal data of EU/UK residents, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved by the European Commission.

10. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including TLS encryption in transit, restricted access to production credentials, and least-privilege access controls. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact privacy@goguide.com and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top and, where legally required, by additional notice on the Service.
